Kathryn and Cody’s Wichita wedding was so uniquely them! From her glittery fitted bombshell gown to the black and white reception, their whole look can only be described as elegant and effortless. Some of our favorite details include using candles as a wedding scent, the marquee letters the groom built himself, and single white rose stems throughout the decor. We can’t wait for you to see it all for yourself! But first, make sure you check out their vendor team who brought the whole thing together.

Now, let’s jump in!
The ladies spent the morning getting ready at The Ambassador Hotel before heading over to The Hudson to get dressed. Brooke Cero gave Kathryn a flawless old Hollywood makeup look, and Pins + Knots created an effortless bridal wave look for her hair. She looked stunning!
Kathryn’s bridesmaids hadn’t seen her dress before she put it on, so they were completely surprised. We had the same reaction when she showed it to us before the wedding… this was one of our favorite dresses of 2022!
Meanwhile, Cody was getting ready in the groom’s suite. His classic tux was sleek, and he wore white shoes that added an edge.
Next, Kathryn did a first look with her dad. This day was so special for them both because he officiated the ceremony!
After her dad got to see her first, Kathryn and Cody got to see each other. She surprised him with shooters so they could ease their nerves, and it was so cute!
During their first look they exchanged private vows. You can feel the passion and emotion in these moments through these photos.
Talk about a gorgeous couple!
These two are obviously cool, but we also love how kind and funny they are too!
The Hudson’s Studio 504 room has plenty of natural light and makes a great location for indoor portraits with an industrial vibe!
Kathryn carried a bouquet of white roses, and we love how that classic detail perfectly complemented her modern gown.
Her gown also showed off her tattoos, and they were an essential part of her stunning bridal look!
Their bridesmaids and groomsmen joined them for photos, and everyone looked stunning! Everyone else wore all black, and Kathryn and Cody really popped.
We’re big fans of giving the groom a special wedding-day outfit that differentiates him a little from his groomsmen. It could be as extreme as a different color of suit or as subtle as a different boutonniere or color of tie. We felt like Cody’s white vest, shirt, and shoes found the happy medium!
After taking wedding party photos, the guys and girls rested while guests made their way in for the ceremony. We opted to let The Hudson’s Urban Garden speak for itself and kept the decor simple! We put two floral arrangements on stands at the beginning of the aisle and lined the bottom of The Hudson’s feature wall with candles as their ceremony backdrop.
It wasn’t originally planned, but Cody ended up walking down the aisle with their son. It was so special to see, and we’re sure their family will treasure the resulting photos forever.
The sunlight hit Kathryn perfectly for her walk down the aisle, and she was literally glowing!
Kathryn’s dad walked her down the aisle and then officiated their ceremony. He had everyone laughing! If you don’t belong to a church family or already know someone who can officate your wedding, we highly recommend asking a family member or close friend to do it. Getting ordained online is free and easy!
After taking a unity shot and officially becoming Mr. and Mrs., Kathryn and Cody shared their first kiss and came back down the aisle with their son!
Helping your mom and dad get married is hard work… you’ve gotta have snacks for it!
After the ceremony, guests headed inside for cocktail hour while the newlyweds took family photos.
When it was time to kick off the reception, the bridal party entered as a group to prepare the way for Mr. and Mrs. Walker!
If you’re planning a Wichita wedding, you can’t beat a grand entrance through The Hudson’s huge industrial doors.
They went straight into their cake cutting from their grand entrance. We love ordering events that way so that the cake can be plated while guests are getting their food! When cake cutting is done right before the dance floor opens, we find that not as much gets eaten.
Simply Sunday Cakes nailed their cake! We love how sleek and modern the gold marble looks on the black cake.
Their reception was incredibly romantic! The groom created marquee letters that spelled out their last name by the dance floor, and Le Luci hung a canopy of lights overhead that created the perfect ambiance! We color blocked tables with black napkins on white tablecloths and black napkins on white tablecloths and used hundreds of floating candles to create a full look for the centerpieces. Lastly, Kathryn bought a box of candles in a scent they chose for their wedding from The White Barn. We lit them and placed them throughout the reception hall and the entry area to let the scent fill the room!
While guests enjoyed a delicious taco bar by Rent the Chef, these two stepped outside for some dreamy golden hour photos.
We love how Alex Bo Photo uses light in her work! There’s a reason we chose her to do our team branding photos 😉
Just because you’re having a Wichita wedding doesn’t mean you have to have boring portraits or that you have to drive somewhere remote for your pictures. We always encourage our couples to embrace the scenery around their venue! The Hudson’s location by warehouses and industrial buildings creates a bold and chic backdrop for photos.
Later in the evening, Kathryn and Cody shared their first dance as husband and wife. The marquee letters looked gorgeous behind them for this moment!
We always cry during the father/daugther dance and mother/son dance. If you need song suggestions for your own parent dances, check out our blog post here.
Kathryn and her mom have a special relationship, and they shared a dance together as well. We thought this was such a beautiful way to honor her too!
Their parent dances kicked off the dance floor, and a little while later they invited all their married guests to the dance floor for an anniversary dance! They gave a bouquet to the couple who had been married the longest, and they shared some marriage advice with the newlyweds.
As for the rest of the night, let’s just say that their guests partied hard and kept the dance floor going up until the minute it was time to leave. Everyone had such a good time… but that’s to be expected when you hire Black Tie Celebrations as your DJ!
Kathryn and Cody, thank you so much for inviting us to be a part of your Wichita wedding. We’re so grateful we got to be a part of it and help your dreams become a reality. Here’s to you and your happily ever after!
XOXO,
The Radiantly Curated Team
