Alex and Shawn came to us in 2019 before the pandemic hit. They were originally supposed to get married in 2020 but ended up having to postpone another year and change venues since Alex worked in healthcare! The wait for their big day was long, but SO worth it. Read on to see our favorite moments and details from their wedding day!

The ladies stayed the night at the Ambassador Hotel in downtown Wichita and got up early to get ready in their suite. The guys got ready at an Airbnb near downtown!
The ladies got to enjoy a slow morning while makeup and hair were done on-site, then Alex put her gown on at 1 PM and did a first look with her bridesmaids! Afterward, they got her ready for her first look with Shawn.
They had waited so long for this moment! Shortly afterward, their party bus picked them and their wedding party up and took them to Union Station for photos.
While bridal party photos were happening, our team was putting the final touches on their setup at the venue! We had about 4 hours to get everything ready for their ceremony and setting tables that would be used during their room flip.
Their ceremony setup was absolutely gorgeous! The overhead starry night lighting, uplighting, and backdrop draping from Le Luci paired beautifully with climbing florals by Moore Flowers. We placed clusters of candles at the base of the backdrop for added ambiance, as well as floating candles along the aisle.
The party bus brought the wedding party to the venue an hour before the ceremony began so Alex and Shawn could take family photos beforehand. We love it when couples have the option to do this! Family photos can sometimes be stressful, and if you can get them out of the way before the ceremony, you can go straight into a few couple portraits and enjoy your cocktail hour or reception after the ceremony ends.
After family photos, everyone retreated to the suites at the venue to relax and touch up before the ceremony began. As guests began to arrive, they were greeted with a balloon arch from Love of Character over the entrance of the venue, a draped entryway for Alex and Shawn’s gift and guestbook table, a minimalist welcome sign, and a barrel-top display of photos to remember loved ones who had passed.
Their ceremony was beautiful! Alex walked down the aisle with her mom, and she and Shawn shared personal vows.
After the ceremony, guests left the main space at the venue to enjoy cocktail hour while we worked with the venue staff to transform the room into a reception!
Alex and Shawn had signature drinks named after their sweet pup! We also set a table with escort cards so guests could find their names and take them to their seats to indicate their meal choice for the plated dinner.
We moved the head table to be in front of the ceremony backdrop. This head table featured a round table in the very center for Alex and Shawn, flanked by two rectangles on each side. The bridal party’s dates sat with them, so both sides of the rectangles had seats!
September Moon Cupcakery made the cutest cupcakes for this wedding! Instead of having regular cake, Alex and Shawn provided plenty of miniature cupcakes for guests to enjoy throughout the evening, and our team restocked them as needed.
Alex and Shawn took advantage of cocktail hour to take some more couple portraits before joining the party!
Once guests found their seats, Alex and Shawn kicked off the reception with a grand entrance that went straight into their first dance.
Afterward, the plated dinner was served. Once the couple, wedding party, and guests had had a chance to eat, their best man and maid of honor toasted the new Mr. and Mrs. before they danced with their loved ones.
DJ Carbon kept the party going strong all night, and guests loved taking photos with the photo booth from Black Tie Celebrations using one of the venue’s exposed brick walls as a backdrop.
Later in the evening, Alex changed into a reception outfit!
At the end of the night, we gathered their guests up outside for an exit while Alex and Shawn shared one final private dance, and then they made their exit from their wedding to cheers from all their loved ones!
We’re so happy for these two! Want to see their wedding day in action? Watch their wedding film below!
